If you would like to get sound out from your PC there are multiple methods to do so:
Headphones / speakers
You will need to plug in the Aux jack from the device to the green port on the rear of the PC via the motherboard, if the port is not green it may be coloured differently from the other ports and labelled as " Out " or " Line out "
for this method go to the bottom right of the screen on the task bar and select the Audio symbol, next click on the " select a sound output " next to the volume slider and then select " Speakers " or " Headphones ".
Monitor / display audio
Please make sure that the display you are using has built in speakers before choosing this option as the PC will not know and will transmit the audio via the display cable regardless of speakers or not.
If you have a graphics card you will need the appropriate drivers for either your AMD, Nvidia, or Intel GPU you can install this from the appropriate website. If you do not have a graphics card and are using the built in CPU graphics you will not need drivers installing.
For audio out via the graphics card please make sure to use a cable that can transfer audio such as DP or HDMI, you will need to connect this cable to the graphics card otherwise there will be no display or audio output.
If you are using the CPU graphics the same applies you will be plugging a HDMI or DP cable into the ports on the rear of the motherboard.
for this method go to the bottom right of the screen on the task bar and select the Audio symbol, next click on the " select a sound output " next to the volume slider and then select the option that matches your monitor's name it should have in brackets after the monitors name either " (AMD High Definition Audio Device) " or " (Nvidia High Definition Audio Device) "
Headset (Headphones with built in microphone)
Headsets can have multiple cables coming from them, depending on the connections you may need additional adapters.
If your headset is USB only make sure the appropriate software and drivers are installed for your headset this will allow the PC to talk correctly to the headset via USB. If you have a single audio cable a splitter adapter will be needed to separate the microphone and audio channels, if your headset has already come with split channels plug the microphone into the usually pink port and the audio into the usually green port. Some headsets may come with a USB and AUX jack cables, the USB is usually for additional power or RGB, we would recommend having all of the cables plugged into the appropriate ports when in use.
If your headphones are only USB and all of the appropriate software and drivers are installed you should be able to go to the bottom right of the screen on the task bar and select the Audio symbol, next click on the " select a sound output " next to the volume slider and then select the option for USB headset.
For headphones and headsets connected via AUX jack go to the bottom right of the screen on the task bar and select the Audio symbol, next click on the " select a sound output " next to the volume slider and then select " Speakers " or " Headphones ".
Bluetooth / Wireless
Most wireless headphones/headsets will come with a proprietary dongle to plug into the PC so the headphones can connect, If you are doing this please make sure all of the appropriate drivers have been installed for that brand.
Standard wireless headphones/headsets without a dongle will require the PC to have Bluetooth, please make sure the PC has Bluetooth before trying to connect the headphones/headsets, if it does not you will need a Bluetooth dongle or PCIe card for the PC, make sure that when purchasing the dongle or card that it will be a compatible version of Bluetooth that will work with your headphones/headset.
For the headphones that have come with a USB dongle that is currently plugged into the PC and all of the appropriate software and drivers are installed you should be able to go to the bottom right of the screen on the task bar and select the Audio symbol, next click on the " select a sound output " next to the volume slider and then select the option for USB headset, or select the headset name from the list.
If you are connect via Bluetooth, enable Bluetooth on the PC, put your headphones in pairing mode. Then, open Bluetooth settings on your PC (Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices), turn on Bluetooth, and click "Add device" > "Bluetooth". Select your headphones from the list, wait for the connection to complete, and then confirm your headphones are selected as the audio output device in your PC's sound settings
